Amazon: why is my order always 30+ minutes late in ChannelEngine?
For every marketplace there will always be a delay between the moment an order is placed on a marketplace and the moment it's available in ChannelEngine. This is due to the fact that no marketplace immediately makes the orders available via their API (this can take somewhere between 1 - 20 minutes) and ChannelEngine fetching orders with a time interval.
In case of Amazon, it takes even longer. This is because Amazon always holds orders for 25 - 30 minutes (during which the buyer can still cancel the order) before they make it available via their API.
Together with the maximum interval of order imports (15 minutes) and of stock updates to Amazon (15 minutes), this may result in a total delay of up to one hour. If you disable ChannelEngines stock reservation, it will be even longer because in that situation we will also need to wait for your order import and stock update.
If you have delicate cut off times for your (merchant) fulfillment, this delay may have an impact. However, for Amazon, your total delivery time is set by the handling time together with the shipping template that is used. The shipping templates will always have a day-range so generally speaking, an order that is transferred to the next day because of missing your cut off time, will still be shipped and delivered in time.
More information on configuring your shipping times can be found here.
The main impact of this order delay is on the stock reservation and updates to Amazon. Because it takes at least 30 minutes before a stock change from an order is known in ChannelEngine, it will also take at least that period to update the stock at Amazon. This is especially tricky for items with a stock of 1 because they can easily be ordered more than once in that window.
This is not something ChannelEngine has any influence on or can prevent. Therefore, we strongly recommend to set a product filter for any Amazon channel with a stock filter of at least Greater than 1.
Please note: Amazon does not have any own 'stock reservation' option like bol.com and some other marketplaces have. Whatever stock is submitted by the seller, is what is available for sale.
